About Andrea Picaso Henry
Encouraged at an early age to follow my passions, I gravitated to art. At seven, while living in Hingham, Ma., I won a tea set as first prize by drawing a gourd from the tv show, Learn To Draw With John Nagy. I took advantage of living in Rhode Island by taking many different courses at R.I.S.D. Starting with children’s en plein aire drawing classes at the park. I always entered the high school Scholastic Art Show and attained Honorable Mention. Over the years I have explored many forms of art including extensive jewelry making, as well as lapidary work, stained glass, fused glass, oil painting, and pottery. After attending Moore College of Art, I continued with jewelry making and design while raising a family. I developed a fashion line called Picaso in the 80’s. In the last 10 years, encouraged by my husband, I have concentrated mostly on watercolor with works also in pastel and colored pencil. My style usually leans towards realistic with the subject many times being botanicals. I have many possible painting subjects in my greenhouse, Little Marrowbone Farm( on Facebook). I look forward to new mediums and experimentation. I often carry art supplies for quick sketching wherever I may be. I love making up my own palettes of watercolor with “themes” according mostly to subject matter. I love making charts and studying the properties of particular pigments. Discovering new and great papers and all art supplies makes me happy! I belong and post to many art Facebook groups according to specific criteria. I also take online and in person courses now and when available. I look forward to future exploration and opportunities. I am a member of The Art League of Cheatham County(TN)
